Which novels should I read first?
Short answer
It does not matter which series you read first as long as you read the novels within each series in sequence.
Long answer
I have authored two fantasy series Rys Rising and The Rys Chronicles. They are both set in the same fantasy world, but over two thousand years separate the narratives of each series. I wrote The Rys Chronicles first. An effort that took from 1997 to 2003. In The Rys Chronicles certain historical events are referenced. The series Rys Rising is a quartet of prequel novels that takes place during many of the historical events mentioned in The Rys Chronicles.
I have designed Rys Rising to be engaging and exciting to my readers who have already read my earlier work The Rys Chronicles. Although readers of The Rys Chronicles will know how certain things turn out in Rys Rising, the details and the dramas of these events remain interesting. Plus there are plenty of new characters, concepts, civilizations, and plots to entertain you.
If you have never read any of my novels, then you can take a chronological approach to the epic and start reading Rys Rising. Having no familiarity with the events about to unfold should offer you a great ride.
If you prefer to read my novels in the order that I have written them and track my development of this fantasy world and my creative journey as a writer, then start with The Rys Chronicles.
