My fantasy novel Union of Renegades has been read by thousands around the world and has now entered the audio medium. The production of my fantasy audiobook required substantial investment because it is a long novel, and I had to hire voice talent and audio engineering. My little woman's voice just doesn't suit the material my brain dreams up.
An audiobook by an independent fantasy author has historically been a rare thing. The major audiobook producers stick with best sellers coming out of the big corporate publishers because of all the specialized labor involved but new distribution systems have enabled independent authors willing to make the investment to reach the audiobook audience.
